We report the clinicpathologic characteristics of a primary pulmonary paraganglioma which was accidentally diagnosed during the exploration of a thoracic traumatism. The incidence of these pulmonary tumors is very low. The main histopathological feature is the presence of “Zellballen” or solid nests composed of principal cells surrounded by sustentacular cells. This finding allows to differentiate from more aggressive neoplasms, specially the carcinoid tumor.
