Summary

The respiratory center response to Progressive C02 stimuli was measured in three groups of subjects: healthy ones, patients with chronic bronchitis and asthmatic patients.

The difference in respiratory response to increased CO2 was significant between normal and asthmatic subjects and between asthmatic and bronchitic patients.

The increase in P 0.1 in response to increased CO2 clearly differentiates normal subjects from bronchitic ones and asthmatic ones from bronchitic subjects and seems to be a good indication of the central neuromuscular impulses.
