Summary

The integration of a differential equation gives a «regional» equation for alveolar gas. That is, an equation which permits one to calculate the concentration (or partial pressure of oxygen in each of the zones «seen» by a detector during regional studies of the lung with a gaseous radiaoactive isotope, for example, Xenon133.

This «regional» equation thus obtained is a combination of the «classic» equation for alveolar gas (valid for both lungs at the same time) and for Kety's model (which describes the equilibrium between an inert gas and the lung during spontaneous respiration.
