Acropachy is a very frequent sign in clinical practice and may be associated with a wide range of diseases. Its early assessement is subjective, difficult and liable to possible mistakes. An objective method is reported. This method is useful as measurement of fingernail cross-sectional and hyponichial angles, which changes accurately reflect the acropachy severity. In 100 appearently healthy subjects (50 men and 50 women; mean age 36,6±16,1 years), the average values for those angles were 168,1°±3,4° and 179,9°±2,6°, respectively. No significative difference was found in the measured ungueal angles when subjects were categorized according to age, sex or smoking or non-smoking habit. These results are discussed and compared with the scarce literature on this topic available up to now.
