De entre todas las procedencias tisulares de injertos usados en cirugía torácica para solucionar defectos por pérdida de sustancia parietal en la tráquea, es el periostio, sin duda, el más utilizado.

Con el fin de establecer la procedencia y orientación idónea de dichos injertos en el campo quirúrgico, se utilizan 30 ratas Wistar en las que se usa periostio procedente de tibia (osificación endocondral) y de calota (osificación membranosa) y se implantan con la cara osteogénica hacia la luz traqueal o hacia los tejidos circundantes.

Se realizan estudios radiológicos y anatomopatológicos de las 4-8 semanas postintervención, concluyendo que son los injertos tibiales orientados hacia la luz traqueal los que producen más hueso y más precozmente.

Among all tissues used in thoracic surgery for the management of defects caused by parietal loss of substance in the trachea, certainly the periostium is the most commonly chosen.

To establish the origin and adequate orientation of these grafts in the surgical field, in 30 Wistar rats periostium from the tibia (endochondral ossification) and the skull (membranous ossification) was implanted with the osteogenic side towards the tracheal lumen or the surrounding tissues.

Radiological and pathological studies were carried out 4-8 weeks after the operation, and it was concluded that the tibial grafts oriented towards the tracheal lumen are those which produce a greater amount of bone at a greater speed.
