Summary

The authors present the case of a patient suffering from Behget's Syndrome and at the same time as the first episode of this process, a diffuse pulmonary affection which was detected clinically, radiologically and functionally. The pulmonary biopsy made by transbronchial route showed pulmonary fibrosis. Evolution with corticoids was favorable. The authors feel that pulmonary fibrosis is secondary to vasculitis although this was not demonstrated in the lung.

Based on this case, the authors review the corresponding medical literature, finding 18 cases of Behget's Syndrome with pulmonary affection that can be attributed to this process. Fibrosis had been verified in only two cases previously. The anatomicopathological lesions described with greated frequency are diffuse vascularaffections of small and large vessels.
