We have retrospectively analyzed 202 patients with UICC postsurgical stage I, II and III non-oat cell lung carcinoma. Mortality rate of 4.4% (n = 9), has been lower for the stage I (2.6%) than for the stage III (5.9%). Resectability rate has been of 84%. From the 160 evalu-able patients, we have analyzed the 3 year actuarial sur-vi val by stage and histological type. The survival for the stage I has been 48% being respectiely 58% T1 NO (n = 22) and 43% T2 NO (n = 54); stage II 44% (n = 20); stage III, 41% (surgery + irradiation) (n = 33) and 32% (surgery only) (n = 31). We have not observed significant differences in survival in the stage I by histological type. In the stage I and II, surgery is the treatment of choice, and tumor size has a pronostic value being the survival superior for the T1 NO than for the T2 NO.
