Summary

The authors present two cases of chronic idiopathic fibrous mediastinitis that evolved with syndrome of the superior cava, and one of them with occlusion of the pulmonary artery. The authors comment on the differential diagnosis of the mediastinal mass and of syndromes of the superior cava as well as on the pathogenesis of multifocal fibrosis.
