El objetivo del presente trabajo ha sido determinar el número de espirogramas que deben realizarse en una prueba de provocación farmacológica bronquial (PPFB), tras cada dosis de metacolina inhalada. Para ello, en 280 individuos (92 asmáticos, 26 bronquíticos, 34 riníticos y 128 sujetos sanos), se construyeron curvas dosis-respuesta (CDR) utilizando tres espirogramas forzados registrados cronológicamente, tras cada una de 10 dosis crecientes (0,13 a 105,8μm) de metacolina inhalada. En todos los grupos estudiados, la CDR, obtenida con el primer FEV1, reflejaba un mayor grado de broncoconstricción. Ésta presentaba diferencias estadísticamente significativas respecto de la segunda y de la tercera CDR, para el grupo de asmáticos y sujetos sanos. Las dos últimas curvas no mostraron diferencias entre sí, en ninguno de los grupos analizados. Se concluye que en una PPFB, tras cada dosis de metacolina administrada, es suficiente con la obtención de dos espirogramas forzados.

The aim the present study was to determine the number of spirograms which must be performed in a pharmacologic bronchial provocation test (PBPT) following each dose of inhaled methacholine. In two hundred eighty individuals (92 asthmatics, 26 bronchitics, 34 rhinitics and 128 healthy subjects) dosis-response curves (DRC) were constructed using three forced spirograms chronologically registered following each of 10 increased doses (0.13 to 1.5.8μm) of inhaled methacholine. In all the groups studied the DRC obtained with the first FEV1 reflected a greater degree of bronchoconstriction presenting statistically significant difference with respect to the second and third DRC for the group of asthmatic and healthy subjects. No differences were observed between the two latter curves in any of the groups analyzed. It is concluded that following each dosis of methacholine administered in PBPT the obtaining of two forced spirograms is sufficient.
