The autors describe a patient infected with HIV and who suffer from primary pulmonary arterial hypertension and a hypertrophic osteoarthropathy. They examine the few cases reported in the literature of such associations and hypothetize on the possibility that humoral growth factors produced by the infection may be the cause of symptoms. They comment on the lack of clinical value of the anticardiolipine antibodies also found in the patient and recommend that a dyspneic patient infected with HIV and showing normal chest X-ray, shouid be examined checking for pulmonary arterial hypertension.
