Forty patients surgically treated for pulmonary melastases are reviewed. The most common primary tumors were osteogenic sarcoma and Ewing's tumor, followed by tumors from breast and kidney origin.

The mean free interval was 20.6 months and a significant relationship was found between the length of the interval and the survival time, as well as the bilateralism or not of the disease. The most common surgical procedure was wedge resection and a middle sternotomy is recommended when both side are involved. The survival rate at 3 years was 38.09%, being of 26.31% at 5 years.
