In an attempt to analyse the relationship between bronchial susceptibility and reactivity these two parameters were determined in the methacholine dose-response curves obtained in 51 asthmatic individuals (31 extrinsic and 20 intrinsic) graded as mild and stable. Although with all mathematical adjustment models used for defining the interdependence between the two parameter, there was a significant correlation, the potential determined the highest r2 in both the extrinsic and intrinsic individuals. In view of these data it is concluded that the susceptibility and reactivity are two related phenomena in mild and stable asthma although the true nature of the relationship and its clinical sigificance remain to be clarified.
