Resumen

Se presentan 34 casos de neumonía por anaerobios en una población con edad media de 56,55 años. En el 92% de los casos se evidenciaron condiciones predisponentes a este tipo de patología, siendo el cuadro clínico de presentación subaguda en el 75% de los pacientes, y encontrándose en casi la mitad de los casos, la patognomónica expectoración pútrida. En el 80% de los casos, existía cavitación de lesiones, las cuales mostraban tendencia a localizarse en zonas declives del pulmón. Se obtuvo la curación del 82,35% de los pacientes, estando relacionados los fracasos terapéuticos con la presencia concomitante de neoplasias pulmonares.

Summary

Thirty-four cases with pneumonía due to anaerobio bacteriae in a population with a median age of 56.55 years, are described. Predisposing factors existed in 92% with sub-acute presentation in 75%, and pathognomic mucopurulent sputum in almost half of all cases.

In 80% of all cases, there were cavitated lesions, showing consolidation in the sloping part of the lung.

Therapy was curative in 82.35% of all cases except in those with concommitant pulmonary neoplasias
