Se han revisado los 42 enfermos diabéticos afectos de TP, que ingresaron y fueron atendidos en nuestro Centro (Hospital de Enfermedades del Tórax. Terrasa) durante los años 1976 y 1977, y que constituyeron el 5,3% del total de enfermos tuberculosos ingresados; aunque si consideramos sólo a aquellos pacientes, que ingresaron por TP diagnosticada por primera vez, la Diabetes la padecían el 7,69%, constatándose de todas maneras, el aumento (en estos últimos años) de la frecuencia de diabéticos entre tuberculosos.
En estos pacientes se han estudiado sus características clínicas, radiológicas, terapéuticas y evolutivas, realizándose en este sentido, un estudio comparado con un grupo de enfermos tuberculosos y no diabéticos. Es de resaltar la mayor frecuencia de localización de las lesiones tuberculosas en el campo pulmonar inferior por parte de los diabéticos, así como la buena evolución de la TP, en estos pacientes (quizá con menos fibrosis residual), naturalmente bajo un tratamiento específico adecuado y una correcta compensación de su trastorno metabólico.
The authors have reviewed the cases of 42 diabetic patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, who were admitted to and attended in their Hospital of Chest Diseases Tarrasa during the years 1976 and 1977. These patients constituted 5.3% of all the tuberculotic patients admitted. However, if one only considers those patients who were admitted for pulmonary tuberculosis, diagnosed for the first time, then 7.69% also suffered from diabetes. In any case, it does show the increase (during these last years) of the frequency of diabetics among patients with tuberculosis.
For these patients, the authors have carried out a study of the clinical, radiológica!, therapeutica! and evolutive characteristics. as well as a comparative study with a group of non-diabetic patients with tuberculosis. The greater frequency of location of the tubercular lesions in the inferior pulmonary area for the diabetics is worthy of note, as well as the good evolution of pulmonary tuberculosis in these patients (perhaps with less residual fibrosis), naturally under an adequate specific treatment and a correct compensation of the metabolic disorder.
