Using conventional components and equipment present in intensivo care units, we present an integrated system that allows screen visualization and graphic representation of parameters and variables of respiratory function obtained in patients with artificial airway or under mechanical ventilation. This system was installed in a medical section of seven beds devoted to respiratory pathology. We emphasize the methods required to avoid errors and artifacts during recording of variables (pressure transducers, pneumotachograph, etc). We also describe applications of the equipment such as those serving to personnel training and to evolutive control of patients before and after withdrawal of mechanical ventilation.
