Se hace una revisión de la bibliografía más significativa sobre los lipomas de mediastino.
Se aportan tres casos (dos lipomas histológicamente puros y un timolipoma) en mujeres de 40, 52 y 59 años respectivamente. En ninguna de ellas hubo aumento de peso en la época inmediatamente anterior al descubrimiento del tumor. En una de ellas (caso 3) además del tumor mediastínico existían lipomas superficiales en cara anterior del tórax, antebrazo derecho y muslo izquierdo.
La clínica era muy poco expresiva y siempre debida a la compresión e irritación de las estructuras vecinas. Los datos analíticos mostraban una normalidad absoluta en todos los valores. En las radiografías existía una opacidad homogénea, redondeada en dos casos y piriforme en el tercero, que ocupaba el seno costo-cardiofrénico derecho. Las tres enfermas se intervinieron quirúrgicamente con resultados favorables.
Finalmente se hacen unos comentarios, sobre la experiencia de diversos autores, de la frecuencia, edad, sexo, localización, hipótesis patogénicas, clínica, histología y tratamiento de dicho tumor.
The authors review the most significant bibliography on lipomas of the mediastinum.
Three cases (two histologically pure lipomas and one thymolipoma) inwomen 40, 52 and 59 years old respectively, are presented. In none of the cases was there an increase in weight in the period immediately previous to the discovery of the tumor. In the third case, besides the mediastinal tumor, there were superficial lipomas in the anterior face of the thorax, the right forearm and the left thigh.
The clinical picture was not very expressive and was always due to the compression and irritation of neighboring structure. Analytical data showed absolute normality for all values. In the radiographs, there was a homogenous opacity, rounded in two case and pyriform in the third, that occupied the right phrenic-cardio-costo breast. The three patients were intervened surgically with favorable results.
Finally, the authors comment on the experience of various authors, the frequency, age, sex, location, pathogenic hypothesis, clinical picture, histology and treatment of said tumor
