La insuficiencia respiratoria aguda asociada a infección por Coxiella burnetii es una complicación extremadamente infrecuente pero grave que por lo general y tras el tratamiento adecuado cursa con una buena evolución. Se describe el caso clínico de una paciente que desarrolló insuficiencia respiratoria aguda secundaria a neumonía por Coxiella burnetii, y que precisó tratamiento con ventilación mecánica y antibioterapia.

Acute respiratory failure secondary to Coxiella burnetii infection is an extremely rare but serious complication that usually has a good prognosis after appropriate treatment. We describe a female patient who developed acute respiratory failure secondary to Coxiella burnetii pneumonia requiring mechanical ventilation and antibiotic therapy.
