The fiberoptic bronchoscopy is at present an indispensable technique in pediatric pulmonology departments. Seventy five fiberoptic bronchoscopies were performed in our center from May 90/Jan 92, on a group of children under 14 years of age. The most common indications were recurrent pneumonia (27,3%), atelectasis (20,8%) and foreign bodies suspect (7,8%). The most usual sedation (92%), was the combination of diazepam with ketamine. Oniy three patients suffered serious complications. The benefit of this technique was shown, since the treatment of 46 children (61%) was changed following this procedure.
