El tratamiento con láser ha resultado ser una ayuda importante en ciertos tipos de patología traqueobronquial. Puede sustituir a la cirugía en casos de estenosis traqueales sobre todo si son extensas, en tumores benignos y en la extracción de cuerpos extraños enclavados. Se utiliza como tratamiento paliativo en los tumores malignos. El tratamiento con láser es insustituible en los tumores traqueales localizados en zonas poco accesibles para la cirugía o la radioterapia. En la revisión de la literatura se demuestran los resultados beneficiosos para largas series de pacientes.
Laser treatment has been useful in certain types of tracheobronchial processes. It can take the place of surgery in tracheal stenosis, in particular when extented, benign tumors and in the extraction of foreign bodies. It may be used as palliative treatment in malignant tumors. In the treatment of tracheal tumors in areas with a difficult surgical or radiotherapeutic approach, laser therapy is an indispensable alternative. A review of the literature demonstrates the excellent results obtained with large series of patients.
