Summary

Unilateral edema is an infrequent clinical situation, in spite of which it must be recognized, because initiation of adequate therapy resolved the situation in the majority of cases. The etiology is varied; some cases being congenital, others acquired, infectious or not, but all of them produce total or partial alteration of pulmonary perfusion.

The authors present the case of a patient suffering from pneumonia in resolvent phase, who, after a hypertensive crisis, presented pulmonary edema, of unilateral distribution, probably conditioned by the hypoperfusion that had in turn been conditioned by contralateral pneumonia.
