The authors present a case of lipoid pneumonia due to inhalation of oily nose drops with charactersistics of recurrent pulmonary infiltrates related to steroid treatment.

Diagnosis was established with the electron microscope which demonstrated a wide distribution of neuter lipoids in the different pulmonary cell types, alveolar macrophages, type II pneumocytes, ciliated bronchial cells, fibroblasts and smooth myocytes.
