Summary

The authors present two cases of multifocal eosinophilic granuloma with the only point in common being pulmonary affection and with very different evolution. They discuss the difficulties for defining, classifying and delimiting the three entities previously grouped within the term histiocytosis-X. They emphasize three aspects of the two cases: 1) different evolution of the pulmonary affection; 2) onset with diabetes insipidus associated with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, in the first case; and 3) absence of osseous affection in the first case and multiple lesions in the second (including maxillary affection which lead to precocious loss of dental pieces)
