Pulmonary volumes were measured in 15 healthy individuals by means of three different dilution methods. Results showed that values of functional residual capacity were identical with any of the three methods. Howe-ver, the single nitrogen washout method allowed addi-tional information, such as the value of the closing volu-me and the slope of phase III, to be measured.
