Summary

The authors have compared the effect of Terbutaline by oral route (5 mgr.) and by aerosol (0.5 mgr.) on the Raw, SRaw and VGI in 14 patients with obstruction of the air routes. The bronchodilatation was slightly superior and was produced more rapidly after the aerosol than after the tablets, but the differences were not statistically significant.

The bronchodilatation being equal, Terbutaline by aerosol produced fewer side effects than by the oral route. Therefore, the authors advise use by oral route only when administration by aerosol is unsatisfactory for some reason.
